Topping our news today…

On Friday, December 1, 2017,  at approximately 1033am, Cleveland Police Officers responded to Mt. View Inn on a robbery call. The male victim stated that two individuals, a male and a female, had robbed him at gunpoint after the victim had given the two suspects a ride to a local restaurant. During the robbery, the suspects were able to take the victim’s wallet, cash and IPHONE.

Cleveland Police detectives were called to the scene and with the assistance of patrol officers and several interviews, it was determined that Demetrius Osborne was the main suspect.

While completing the initial investigation, Officer Matt Sharp was able to locate the suspect at the rear of Cleveland Skate Place. Further investigation by witnesses who stated they observed Osborne in the area, led officers to an apartment located on Fletcher Drive. Officers found the residence burglarized. The items taken from the residence were positively identified of those found in the possession of Osborne, as well as the wallet, cash and iPhone taken in the robbery. All items were returned to the victims. Demetrius Osborne was placed in custody, charged with robbery and burglary and taken to the Bradley County Justice Center.

The annual MainStreet Cleveland Christmas Parade took place Saturday evening in downtown Cleveland. The winners in the parade were as follows: The best overall float went to M&M Mars. The best large commercial float was Wholesale Supply Group, with the best commercial float being Goin’ to the Dogs. The best middle/high school float was Skills USA, and the best elementary/youth float was Boy Scouts 101. The award for best civic/non-profit float went to Cleveland Utilities, and the best religious float was Unity Church of God.

An amendment of the Bradley County Sheriff Office’s General Orders regarding the use of the agency’s fleet vehicles has been approved allowing deputies and other uniformed officers to drive their fleet vehicles to worship centers, as well as civic and non-profit organizations.

Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson said he believes this proactive effort will be a deterrent to prevent acts of violence in the community.

Additionally, Watson issued a written directive to the patrol division for deputies to know the location of all worship centers and other nonprofit organizations in their assigned patrol zone. When a service or meeting is in session at the establishment, patrol personnel are to be vigilant in patrolling parking lots.

If traffic assistance is needed by an organization, the sheriff’s office allows personnel to provide this service on an off-duty contract being approved by the agency. The details regarding the contract can be discussed by contacting Patrol Captain Dennis Goins at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

For many years, off-duty deputies have provided assistance with high-traffic areas for organizations, which allows them to utilize their emergency audible and visual equipment to ensure the safety of vehicles exiting the parking lots.

An investigation that has spanned nearly two years in Meigs County has netted 18 suspects accused of drug charges.

Authorities conducted multiple undercover stings to identify potential targets contributing to illicit drug activity, primarily involving methamphetamine across Meigs county, according to a news release.

The investigation began in January 2016 and involved the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, the Decatur Police Department and the Tennessee Department of Correction.

The Meigs County Grand Jury returned indictments on Monday, charging 18 people in connection to the ongoing investigation. A warrant has also been secured for a 19th individual in connection to a probation violation.

• William Skinner: 1 count of Schedule II, 1 count of Manufacturing, Delivery, Sale, or Possession with Intent to Deliver, 1 count of Aggravated Assault, 6 counts of Reckless Endangerment.
• Ronald Dale Britt: 3 counts of Manufacturing, Delivery, Sale, or Possession with Intent to Deliver.
• Judy Moats: 2 counts of Manufacturing, Delivery, Sale, or Possession with Intent to Deliver.
• Jennifer McKenzie: 1 count of Possession of Methamphetamine for Resale, 1 count of Possession of Schedule IV for Resale, 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
• Amanda Brooke Ward: 1 count of Manufacturing, Delivery, Sale, or Possession with Intent to Deliver, 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
• Jason Dills: 1 count of Initiating the Manufacture of Methamphetamine, 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
• Emerson Eaton III: 1 count of Manufacturing, Delivery, Sale, or Possession with Intent to Deliver, 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
• Surlina Eaton: 1 count of Manufacturing, Delivery, Sale, or Possession with Intent to Deliver, 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 1 count of Simple Possession.
