Bradley County Schools believes it is important to be as transparent as possible about the return to school in the current pandemic. Beginning on Friday, August 21st, the Bradley County School system began providing weekly updates on the number of positive COVID-19 cases by location. That information will be released every Friday at 5PM through the school system’s social media outlets as well as on the bradleyschools.org website. The numbers released each Friday will only be NEW cases within the system that week. All of the case data will be archived on the school system’s website.

Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park announced the cancellation of its SPOOKah Halloween celebration due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the unique features of the event, the park cannot operate Lake WinnepeSPOOKah while maintaining the recommended guidelines of the CDC and the State of Georgia mandates, Lake Winnie said in a Facebook post.

The amusement park said the celebration will return in 2021.

One person was injured in an officer-involved shooting late Saturday night in Signal Mountain.

A Hamilton County deputy was involved in the incident that happened on Hixson Spring Road just before 10:00 p.m.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the deputy attempted a traffic stop on Coral Road, but the driver continued driving.

The driver, identified as Ronald Andrew Hutson, continued on Hixson Spring Road where his vehicle lost control and spun out.

Reports from the scene said that as the deputy exited his vehicle, Hutson drove towards deputies, and a deputy fired his weapon.

Investigators say the deputy was not injured in the shooting, however, the suspect was shot and has been transported to the hospital.

The person’s condition is unknown at this time.

A spokesperson from the Hamilton County District Attorney General Neal Pinkston’s Office says TBI has been requested to conduct the investigation of the incident.
