From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Tim Siniard reports: Revisions to a corridor management agreement, as well as an update on the future Highway 60/Georgetown Road widening project were considered last week by the State Route 60 Corridor Management Committee and Tennessee Department of Transportation.

With the road project on the horizon, committee members updated the document to revise language, as well as include signatures of recently elected officials.

TDOT Civil Engineering manager David Yates told committee members the project should begin next year.

Yates said he expected the project to take place over three to four years.

From WRCB Channel 3…

Locations affected will be:

  • A small section along the west side of Congress Parkway
  • From Redfern Drive South to around Carter Road
  • Lee Manor Apartments
  • A small portion of Kenneth Street
  • Both the ‘low and high’ sections of Mt. Verd Road

The work is expected to take two or three hours.

In news today…

If you were traveling I-24 west at the ridge cut Sunday, you probably experienced major traffic delays.

A tractor trailer overturned Sunday morning near Exit 181A, coming off Missionary Ridge toward downtown Chattanooga. As a result of the crash, batteries being transported in the tractor trailer were damaged and began leaking battery acid onto the roadway.

Crews spent the majority of the day Sunday cleaning up the acid and other mess as a result of the accident.
