Topping our news today…

The Bradley County school system confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday night. The school system said that after identifying positive cases in the schools, they are following the protocols to mitigate the virus.

In a Mix 104.1 Exclusive, sources tell Mix 104.1’s Steve Hartline that a student at Parkview Elementary tested positive, but was not experiencing any symptoms. A student at Bradley Central High School came to school with symptoms, and was sent home to be tested. That student was later revealed to be positive. Sources also told us that the schools quickly followed the state protocols, as were laid out in the preparation for the reopening of schools. Contact tracing is underway involving any people the students came into contact with, and those people will be contacted.

The Bradley county school systems statement on Saturday night closed with the following: By working quickly and collaboratively with the Tennessee Department of Health to identify and advise ill and exposed students and staff, we can avoid the need to temporarily close our schools and reduce the spread.

From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Tim Siniard reports: Once again, the Inman Street railroad bridge underpass — functioning like a giant can opener — has peeled back the top of another box truck, resulting in the driver receiving a failure-to-obey citation.

Last week, the latest victim too tall to pass beneath the 10-foot, 10-inch railroad bridge smashed into the structure, becoming stuck underneath.

According to a Cleveland Police Department report, the driver, Corey Little, 47, was checking his mirrors to ensure he would not hit anything as he was making a right turn from Edward Street S.E. onto East Inman Street.

“He stated that when he looked up, he saw the bridge and the warning signs, but could not slow down in time,” the CPD report stated.

As a result, the 2009 Freightliner M2 box truck became wedged beneath the underpass, incurring disabling damage.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. In addition, there were no passengers in the vehicle.

The truck was towed by a local company after it was removed from beneath the underpass.

From WRCB Channel 3…

Two people were flown to UT Medical Center after multiple fires broke out at Blue Springs Marina on Watts Bar Lake in Roane County on Saturday, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

There were small explosions when the calls arrived at around 8:30 p.m. By 11 p.m. on Saturday, there were three or four boats on fire, the TWRA said. 6 vessels sustained damage, two sank. Parts of the docks were also burned, according to authorities

TWRA says a married couple from Monroe County sustained serious injuries when the explosion happened in their engine hatch.

Arriving wildlife officers went boat to boat at the end of the dock to confirm all people were accounted for. Volunteer Electric assisted with cutting power to the marina.
