Our top story today, from WRCB Channel 3…

A man arrested by Cleveland Police had to be let go because jail officials in Bradley County Jail wouldn’t take him.

Cleveland Police spokeswoman Evie West tells us Jadarius Hudgins was arrested on warrants of aggravated burglary and theft. West tells Channel 3 an officer tried to book Hudgins, but jail officials didn’t take him because of a medical reason.

We’re told a cut on Hudgins’ arm was several days old and he never received treatment.

We have reached out to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office for a statement and to learn more.

From the Chattanooga Times Free Press…

Two years after the debut of Dos Bros in Cleveland, Tenn., — and six months after adding a second store in the food court of Hamilton Place mall — the owners of Dos Bros are looking to open three more locations in the next year.

The Mexican cuisine restaurant is building stores in Hixson and Ooltewah and looking for a downtown site for another Dos Bros location. The new 3,200-square-foot location in the Town Center North shopping center, near the Target store on Highway 153, should open this summer. An Ooltewah site being built in the White Oak Crossing off Lee Highway should be ready to open in early 2018, and the restaurant developers also want to add a downtown site soon.

The Hixson site is located where Blue Coast Burrito previously operated a store and is across Highway 153 from Moe’s Mexican Restaurant and Tex Mex Grill.

The restaurants are in leased space and typically cost about $400,000 to build out each site. The new Hixson store will likely have 30 to 35 employees.

Dos Bros, which bills itself as “your hometown fresh Mexican grill,” uses locally sourced vegetables, hormone-free meats prepared daily. As a fast casual restaurant, the typical meal ticket is $10 or less without a tip.

From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

The medical assisting associate’s degree program at Cleveland State Community College has just been reaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

The reaccreditation came with something which tends to be pretty unusual for colleges — a perfect evaluation with absolutely no negative findings or recommendations.

This accreditation is vital for the college and its graduates, as negative findings could affect graduates’ careers. A student must graduate from an accredited medical assisting program in order to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants’ Certified Medical Assistant exam.

Cleveland State was first accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs in 1998, making this the college’s second 10-year reaccreditation.

A pair of area principals from Cleveland City Schools and Bradley County Schools had the honor of being named as finalists for “Principal of the Year” for the Southeast Region.

Arnold Memorial Elementary School principal Mike Chai and Park View Elementary School principal Jodie Grannan were honored to not only learn that they were finalists, but that they had been nominated by their peers.

Chai had been unaware of his finalist status until he received a text message last Wednesday. Much like Chai, Grannan was also pleasantly caught off guard by the nomination.

Ultimately, it was Whitwell Middle School principal Kim Headrick and Ooltewah High School principal Robin Cop who were chosen to advance to represent the Southeast Region at the state level. More than 150 principals participated in the voting process.

The Tennessee Department of Education’s Southeast Region is made up of Bradley, Hamilton, McMinn, Meigs, Rhea, Polk, Marion, Grundy and Sequatchie Counties, and 14 different school districts. Chai and Grannan were two of the 10 finalists.
