A post on the Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga’s Facebook page shows Bradley County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Joker making his way out of the clinic and into a car for the ride home.
Joker was shot September 22 during an auto theft investigation. Six juveniles were detained after the incident, and were charged with 15 counts of Auto Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Auto Burglary, and Felony Evading Arrest. They were also charged with Theft Over Theft Over $10,000, Conspiracy to Commit Theft Over $10,000, and Attempted Intentional Killing of An Animal by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
After spending nine days in the ICU, Joker was discharged and will return home with his partner to recover and recuperate.
A former Tennessee corrections officer was arrested on Tuesday after he was accused of beating an inmate and falsifying a report.
An indictment unsealed on Tuesday alleges that on Aug. 30, 2019, Kenan Lister punched an inmate in the head, knocking him to the ground, and then repeatedly kicked and punched him. Lister then failed to seek medical care for the inmate and falsified a report on the incident, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Nashville.
Lister, of Clarksville, was a security threat group coordinator at the Trousdale Turner Correctional Center at the time. He is charged with two counts of deprivation of rights under color of law and one count of obstructing justice, according to a news release. No attorney was listed for Lister in online court records as of Tuesday afternoon.
If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years for the civil rights charges and up to 20 years for the obstruction charge, as well as a fine of up to $250,000.
An arrest report from the Chattanooga Police Department says three people were arrested Saturday at the Hamilton Place Mall.
They were Marquis Pitmon and two juveniles. The suspects were recognized by police officers and placed under arrest for outstanding warrants.
Police found a stolen loaded 40 caliber Glock on one juvenile. Pitmon was found carrying 2 grams of crack cocaine. And all three suspects arrived at the mall in a stolen Honda which reports say had a large amount of marijuana inside and an AR-15.
The juvenile with the Glock was recognized by officers as a shooter in the August 12th gang-related mall shooting. With extensive police records on all three individuals, the question remains how they are free to commit more crimes.
The report says all three suspects are validated gang members. CBL Properties who owns the mall have released a statement. Pitmon was booked at the Hamilton County Jail and the two juveniles were sent to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
