Leon Bridges, The Neighbors, Band of Horses, Local Natives and Greensky Bluegrass will perform as part of the Moon River Music Festival on Sept. 10 and 11 at Coolidge Park.

The lineup was released Tuesday, with pre-sale tickets going on sale at noon. General admission tickets will go on sale at noon Thursday at Moonriverfestival.com.

The rest of the lineup will include Zach Bryan, Lucius, Charley Crockett, Keb’ Mo’, Mat Kearney, Briston Maroney, JP Saxe, Sammy Rae & The Friends, Hiss Golden Messenger, Wild Rivers, Natalie Hemby, Wilderado, Maggie Rose, Abraham Alexander, Daniel Nunnelee and Madeline Edwards.

Founder Drew Holcomb said in a news release that Moon River has become one of his favorite events of the year and he is especially looking forward to this year’s festival.

Chattanooga Police, following a shooting at the Volkswagen plant on Monday night, said, “At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that there is a continuing threat to Volkswagen employees or to the public at large.”

Two men who were in a parked vehicle were shot. Their injuries were said to not be life-threatening.

VW officials stated, “The incident that occurred outside our factory last night was tragic, and we are working closely with the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) in their ongoing investigation. The safety and well-being of our employees is of utmost priority; therefore, we have increased our security measures and provided counseling services to our team members.”

Cleveland City Schools has named Mr. Kerry O’Connor as the new Principal of Yates Primary School beginning July 1, 2022. O’Connor will replace Dr. Stephanie Stone as the Yates Primary School Principal. Stone has been serving as Principal of Yates Primary School and E.L. Ross Elementary School for the past two years. She will continue in the principal role at E. L. Ross Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year.

Mr. O’Connor has previously served for 7 years at Cleveland Middle School as a special education teacher and special services coordinator. He also held the role of behavior support specialist working across the school district for 2 years. In 2020, O’Connor began serving as an assistant principal for both Yates Primary School and E.L. Ross Elementary School.

Also in news today…

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, officers with the Cleveland Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint and traffic enforcement in the areas of Keith Street, South Lee Highway, and Inman Street. The sobriety checkpoint was conducted from 8pm-10pm and localized on South Lee Highway at Pleasant Grove Church Road. Three hundred and three (303) vehicles came through the checkpoint, resulting in eight (8) citations, twenty (20) warnings and one (1) DUI arrest. After the checkpoint concluded, CPD officers continued in traffic enforcement efforts throughout the city limits, which also resulted in twenty-eight (28) traffic stops/warnings and one (1) city citation.
