WACKER Chemical Corporation has announced the addition of Kenneth Collins as senior director, site leader of its Charleston, Tennessee, site where he will oversee all operations of the $2.65 billion, 650-employee production facility that manufactures hyper-pure polysilicon and pyrogenic silica for the global market. 

Collins joins WACKER from Owens Corning, where he most recently served as plant manager of the company’s Wabash, Ind., site and led measurable improvements in safety, environmental and operational performance. 

His eight-year Owens Corning tenure also included a plant manager post at the company’s Aiken, S.C., site, where he achieved similar improvements.

Collins’ extensive experience in manufacturing includes the areas of operations, environmental health and safety, reliability, human resources, regulatory compliance, supply chain, quality control and maintenance. Collins’ other career posts have included leadership roles with First Quality Tissue, Arizona Chemical, International Paper and Procter & Gamble.

The Bradley County Commission met on Monday covering several items of business. The reappointment for the director of the HCI Committee, as well as all ethics committee members, passed. Commissioner Winters noted that a second Juvenile Department employee, Chris Stanfield, has passed away from COVID-19 complications. He was the BCHS Probation Officer. Commissioner Winters also shared a memo from BCHS Principal Patric Spangler speaking to the passing of Officer Stanfield.

Two people have been arrested by the McMinn Co Sheriff’s Office over a shooting in the Mt. Verd community Saturday evening that left a woman dead and a man injured.

McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy says on Monday, 24-year-old Esau C. Kelly, of Ooltewah, was charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.

Sheriff Guy says 45-year-old Melissa K. Pueirtt, of Etowah, was charged with Accessory After the Fact of Murder in the Second Degree.

Both are currently in the McMinn County Jail on bond.
