Tim Siniard reports: A woman who was reportedly shot Monday morning was transferred from Tennova-Cleveland to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga.

According to Taylor Woodruff, public information officer for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s husband, who arrived with her at Tennova, was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant.

Woodruff said the incident remains under investigation.

In news today…

The Cleveland City Council met on Monday, covering several items of business including the homeless camps on the Greenway. While the tents are on private property, leaving the city no way to legally remove them from the property, research is being done to see if there is a way to remove them through residential codes. City Manager Joe fivas said he hopes the property owner will give it to the city so that the city can enforce the law. The possibility of using eminent domain for the purposes of public safety, is being discussed in light of the incident in which an individual was struck with a 2-by-4 while on the Greenway.

The Bradley County Commission met briefly on Monday, with eight commissioners absent. Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis noted that COVI-19 numbers were not down as much as he would like, however vaccine numbers are steady and the number of deaths is down. Also, a resolution has been passed by the Finance Committee for a budget amendment to give a one-time bonus to county school system employees that qualify. This must now be voted on by the County Commission.
