A popular local restaurant remains closed today after a small grease fire Monday resulted in minimal damage to the restaurant. According to an official social media post by The Old Fort Restaurant, a small grease fire broke out Monday before the restaurant had opened. Thankfully, no one was injured and there was only minimal damage. Restaurant management thanked the quick response of the Cleveland Fire Department for preventing any further damage. Cleanup and repairs are already underway at the restaurant, and are continuing today. As of news time, the restaurant plans to reopen Wednesday.

The Caring Place in Cleveland, TN is hosting a Christmas In July celebration to help raise money that will continue to support their efforts in assisting the needy.

The Organization provides access to basic resources and opportunities to help their community members move past poverty.

This year’s fundraising event will be on July 29th at the Ole Woolen Mill.

The event will feature nationally touring comedian and Cleveland native, Karen Mills.

Tickets to the event will cost $50 dollars and will go directly towards helping the community bounce back from the pandemic.

A 6-year-old Tennessee boy has died from a gunshot wound, police said.

Knoxville officers responded Sunday evening to a residence and found the boy wounded, news outlets reported, citing a statement from police. He was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, but died shortly after arriving, the statement said.

The shooting remains under investigation, but police said in a statement that they believe “the shooting was accidental and self-inflicted.”

No further information was immediately released.
