A Bradley County School bus was involved in an accident off Benton Pike on Monday afternoon. The bus had just completed its route for the day and was sitting still when another vehicle crossed the center line, striking the bus head-on. The driver of the bus and her grandchild, who was also on board the bus, were not injured in the crash.
One person in the other vehicle was airlifted to Erlanger for their injuries. Their condition was unknown as of news time. The names of the people involved have not been released. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the investigation, and sources tell Mix 104-1 News that charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle which struck the bus.

The Cleveland City Council passed, 7-0, a change which allows the City to be compliant with similar State liquor laws. It would allow a local liquor store to legally change from a ‘sole proprietor’ legal entity to a ‘Limited Liability Corp’. They would still have to go through background checks and City processes, however.

The Bradley County Commission met on Monday. During the meeting, Commissioner Blake introduced Mr. Barry from the industrial development board, who gave a presentation requesting a resolution to allow Cannon Automotive Solutions to enter into an agreement with the County for a payment in lieu of taxes option. Cannon Automotive Solutions is an automotive parts manufacturing company who will be opening a new factory by the first quarter of 2022 in a county industrial park. It is estimated that about 161 jobs will be added by the opening of the new facility. The Lake Forest Middle School girls basketball team was present and recognized for winning the girls’ middle school state championship. Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis made a proclamation, declaring February 22nd, 2021 as Lake Forest Middle School Lady Bruins Basketball Day in Bradley County. In other business, Commissioner Winters announced that the new school board member, replacing the late Mr. Frazier from the 7th District, will be chosen at the March 1st Commission meeting.
Health officials in Shelby County got rid of more than 1,000 COVID-19 vaccines due to expiration, the Tennessee Department of Health reported Monday.
Shelby County Health Department officials said the vaccines were discarded Friday, after rounds of winter storms closed vaccination sites.
COVID-19 vaccine appointments were pushed back across the state due to weather.
Around the country, crippling winter weather forced the cancellation of appointments and delaying vaccine deliveries just as the federal government rolled out new mass vaccination sites aimed at reaching hard-hit communities.

Cleveland Mayor Kevin Brooks spoke at the MainStreet Cleveland Luncheon, discussing extensively the remodel of the downtown area, including the old Summit building. The 1st Street Square project is projected to be completed in about 11 months. Previously, the primary focus was on improvements to APD-40, but the focus has now been shifted to the main downtown area. One of the major concerns of downtown business owners has been the lack of parking in the area. Mayor Brooks discussed the possibility of parking garages. There are currently two possible garages on the drawing board for the future.
