In news today…

The Bradley County Commission met on Monday covering several items of business. Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis presented the re-appointment list for the Storm Water Advisory Board. There were no new appointments – just reappointments. The list was confirmed 14-0. In finance, a resolution was passed clarifying the use of $2 million in ARP funding earmarked for COVID response, which will likely be used for firetrucks and ambulances. Also, a resolution was passed earmarking about $15,000 for security advancements at Farmers Market North. Commissioner Davis also thanked the firefighters for their work last week during the fire on Blue Springs Church Road, stating that no homes were damaged. 

Also in news today…

The Cleveland CIty Board of Education met on Monday, covering several items of business. The contract renewal for Director of Schools Dr. Russell Dyer was passed. Dr. Dyer presented a new program that Cleveland High School is implementing for engineering, robotics, aviation, and automotive students called Tango Flight. The program provides a kit for a select group of students to build a full size plane that can seat two passengers. After the plane is assembled, the plane will undergo tests and evaluations, and will be sold to buyers. The money will be invested right back into the program for next year’s group of students. Cleveland is one out of the ten school systems in the country that has instituted this program.

Mix 104.1 and mixtv.tv will present debates during the Mix Morning show, beginning Wednesday thru April 12th. The debates will focus on the Bradley County Mayor, three judicial, and the Bradley County Road Department races. The Debates will start at 8 AM and run until 9 AM for the five days.
