Local elected officials say they want more information on four late night flights carrying migrant children into Chattanooga.

Two months ago, Governor Bill Lee declined the Biden Administration’s request to house unaccompanied minors in Tennessee.

U.S. Congressman Mark Green, who represents Tennessee’s 7th District, has proposed the ‘Every State Has a Say Act.’

This would require the federal government to seek permission from the state before bringing in unaccompanied minors.

Officials with the Chattanooga Airport are moving forward with plans to expand the terminal.

It’s part of a 20-year master plan, which was completed three years ago.

If approved, CEO Terry Hart said it would be the biggest terminal expansion in decades.

It comes as the travel industry continues to recover from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

In the past few months, Hart said they continue to see a slow increase in the number of enplanements.

It comes as a new parking garage is just weeks away from being completed.  It will include four levels with 1,300 parking spaces.  The parking garage is expected to be completed in July of this year.

If the design is approved in August, construction for the terminal expansion could start in 2022.

A Tennessee woman faces charges after police say she endangered the lives of more than a dozen people at a COVID-19 vaccine site in Maryville Monday morning.

In a report obtained by WATE-TV in Knoxville, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old Virginia Christine Lewis Brown of Greenback sped her SUV through a closed cone course and a tent where at least 15 people were working, at the parking lot of Foothills Mall.

Among those working were Tennessee National Guard members and workers with the Blount County Health Department.

The report quoted witnesses saying they heard Brown shout “No vaccine!” as she came within “inches and feet” of hitting the workers.

A nearby Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Brown. The report says she told the deputy she was driving through to “protest the vaccine.”

Brown was arrested and booked on seven counts of felony reckless endangerment, with bonds totaling $21,000.

She’ll appear in court on June 7th.
