The Hwy 60 project will have traffic lane shifts for temporary paving work through next week in front of Cleveland Middle School. Expect traffic delays. Please avoid the area if possible.

In news today…

MainStreet Cleveland and the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce Tourism Department are teaming up again to give Cleveland and Bradley County residents and area visitors live music at the Friday Festivals. 

This year, the summer concert series will be held each Friday in June in downtown Cleveland at First Street Square.

The free, family-oriented events begin at 7 p.m. June 3 and continue each Friday in June and are sponsored by Wacker–Charleston.

The four events feature live music and specialty food vendors.  

There is plenty of downtown parking for those coming to the Friday Festivals, organizers said. 

First Street Square is at the intersection of Parker Street and First Street Northeast. Visitors are urged to bring chairs. Information:  mainstreetcleveland.com or on social media platforms.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced the appointment of Dr. Morgan McDonald, MD, FACP, FAAP, as interim commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), effective Friday.

Dr. McDonald is the deputy commissioner for Population Health at the TDH and formerly served as an assistant commissioner and the deputy medical director for Family, Health and Wellness. Dr. McDonald earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from Vanderbilt University and completed her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. McDonald will serve until a permanent commissioner is named.
