From NewsChannel 9…

A federal judge has ruled that a Cleveland man charged in connection with the riots at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th is a ‘danger to the community.’

Because of that, the judge ordered Jose Padilla must remain in federal custody, despite his attorney’s pleas to release him on bond.

Padilla is charged with assaulting law enforcement officers at the same place where following the insurrection, national guardsmen were called to protect. FBI officials say they received an anonymous tip that Padilla made posts on his Facebook page, admitting to taking part in the riots.

Padilla faces a total of six charges, including obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder, assault law enforcement officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

At approximately 7:30am Wednesday, BCSO deputies were dispatched to a barn on Cohulla Road SE in reference to a burglary in progress. While en route, a deputy made contact with the suspect’s vehicle, at which time the vehicle veered off down a driveway, drove through a fence and crashed into a tree. Two males exited the vehicle and proceeded to run. The deputy deployed his K-9 partner, who successfully apprehended the driver.

The driver was identified as Curtis Collier. He was transported to Erlanger Hospital by LifeForce due to injuries sustained from the K-9 apprehension. The suspect’s vehicle, which held the stolen property in plain sight, has been seized and transported to the Bradley County Justice Center for a forensics investigation.

Curtis Collier has been charged with two counts of Burglary, one count of Theft and one count of Evading Arrest.
