Autumn Hughes reports: Bradley County’s redistricting plan was approved last week by the Bradley County Commission.

The approved plan will be sent to the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office for review. “It’s in effect as soon as it passes,” he said.

Based on the committee’s actions, in all:

  • 75 residents were shifted from District 2 to District 4;
  • 45 residents were shifted from District 3 to District 4;
  • 292 residents were shifted from District 3 to District 5; and
  • 99 residents were shifted from District 6 to District 5.

In addition to shifting voters into different districts due to U.S. Census data, the resolution also specifies for Bradley County to remain at seven districts, with two County Commission members per district.

Commissioners  conducted public hearings and approved two rezoning resolutions. Both were presented by Commissioner Mike Hughes, who serves on the Bradley County Regional Planning Commission.

The first resolution was to rezone from Forestry/Agriculture/Residential district to High Density Residential district property located at Michigan Avenue and Wilkinson Road. The second was to rezone from Rural Commercial district to Highway Commercial district property located at 441 Durkee Road.
