The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is issuing an upcoming traffic caution for Highway 64 near the Ocoee No. 1 Dam due to spillway gate maintenance work, according to a release.

Highway 64 will be restricted to one lane between Oct. 19th through 21th from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

TVA crews will use the Ocoee No. 1 overlook to stage equipment and load barges to prepare for the work.

Travelers should plan for delays.

Be cautious when driving through the area.

Traffic controls will be in place, along with support from TVA Police.

Rodney Antonio Gearing pleaded guilty on Friday to second-degree murder in a 2018 Ooltewah case.

Gearing waived his right to a trial and agreed to serve a 25-year sentence in the Tennessee Department of Corrections, according to a news release from the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office.

The crime occurred on July 22, 2018, on School Street in Ooltewah. The victim, Gary Percill McPherson, was found the next day in his home in a pool of blood, according to court documents.

Gearing was linked to the death by bloody shoe prints left at the scene. Witnesses also recalled seeing Gearing the night of the 22nd with a pistol and various injuries.

“The 58-member Cleveland Pops fall season has begun with the first concert performance scheduled for Monday, Oct. 18, at Walker Valley High School. 

This concert, “Passport to Travel,” will feature concert band compositions of various genres from cultures and countries around the world. 

Some of the selections included are “Lady of Spain,” “Pirates of Caribbean,” “Corsican Litany,” “Cajun Folk Songs,” “Africa,” “Finlandia,” “Irish Tune from County Derry and Shepherd’s Hey” and “English Folk Song Suite.”
