A Polk County man is charged with murdering his neighbor and improperly disposing of his remains, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

A release says the Polk County Sheriff’s Office asked the TBI for help after the still-unidentified victim’s remains were found on Fingerboard Road.

The TBI says investigators determined 59-year-old Mitchell Edward Mingie was a suspect in the victim’s murder.

Deputies arrested Mingie on Tuesday and charged him with one count of second degree murder and one count of abuse of a corpse.

Mingie was then booked in the Polk County Jail.
