In news today…

Bradley County Schools, Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Cleveland Police Department, Bradley County Fire Department, Cleveland Fire Department, E.M.S. and Bradley/Cleveland Emergency Management Agency will be using the Ocoee Middle School campus for training purposes, July 26th from 7:00a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  

David Lewis Lane and 23rd Street, between North Ocoee Street and Parker Street, will be closed to all traffic during the training.  For the safety of teams and the public, it is asked that no one approach or attempt to enter Ocoee Middle School as teams will be running various high-stress scenarios.

The 101st International Assembly of Cleveland-based Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP) convened this week in Oklahoma City and on Wednesday, July 20, selected as new presiding bishop Tim Coalter, of Cleveland.

The position formerly was called general overseer.

Bishop Coalter’s most recent leadership position was as the church’s general presbyter of North America, administering more than 1,700 local church congregations in the United States, Canada and Bermuda. Prior to his selection as general presbyter, he served in the pastorate for approximately 28 years and as state bishop of South Carolina for nearly six years.

Coalter is a member of the International Offices board of directors for the Church of God of Prophecy and serves on the executive committee for the Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA). He and his wife, Kelly, live in Cleveland and have three children and eight grandchildren.

Coalter replaces Bishop Sam N. Clements, who presided over the church for eight years.
