In news today…

If you have unwanted or expired prescription medicine at home, you can bring it to one of the Bradley County Sheriff Office’s locations this Saturday, Oct. 28th, as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. No questions asked. This is a great way to prevent drug addiction, overdose deaths or accidental ingestion by children.

Drug Take-Back Day offers Bradley County residents the opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets and bring unused, unwanted or expired medication – safely and anonymously – to the sheriff office’s drop-off sites from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The two sites are; Bradley County Sheriff’s Office (Criminal Investigations Division’s Lobby) at 2290 Blythe Avenue and Walgreen’s at 35 25th St.

For those who miss Saturday’s event, the Sheriff’s Office offers a continuous program where residents can drop off unwanted prescription drugs at Bradley County Sheriff Office’s administrative offices, inside their Criminal Investigations Division’s Lobby. Anybody needing further information should call 423-728- 7336.

In news today…

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office received a good audit for their 2016-2017 fiscal year T.D.O.T. (Tennessee Department of Transportation) Litter Grant.

The results were delivered through a letter by T.D.O.T. Auditor Linda L. Ivey after concluding her completion of review, which stated a “no finding report” was declared after reviewing numerous documents and expenditure reports related to the agency’s grant.

For the 2016-2017 fiscal year, T.D.O.T. awarded a $55,000 litter grant to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office which produced the removal of 268,263 pounds of litter from 1,291.8 miles of roads within Bradley County and 13,169 pounds of that roadside debris was recycled.

The sheriff’s office is crediting their litter prevention education for the substantial decrease in dumpsites. During the 2016-2017 fiscal year only one dump site was reported and cleaned, which is a great reduction to the 2015-2016 fiscal year that produced 58 dump sites.

Environmental Officer, Lt. Tim Mason, currently oversees the litter crews responsible for collecting litter along Cleveland/Bradley County roadways, while also investigating and prosecuting environmental complaints.

Residents are urged by the sheriff’s office to report all environmental complaints by filling out an environmental complaint form that can be obtained either at their administrative offices located at 2290 Blythe Avenue, S.E., or their website, www.bradleysheriff.com, and clicking the Employment/Forms tab.
