NEWS 11/18/16 Channel 3- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a statewide Endangered Child Alert Thursday on behalf of the Dekalb County TN. Sheriff’s Office for 8-month-old Xavier Billings. Xavier is described as a white male, 0’20” tall, 17 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen with his biological parents Andrew Billings and Adriana Billings on Thursday, November 10 after they fled the scene of an accident in Dekalb County and a mobile methamphetamine lab was found in their vehicle, the TBI says. Both Andrew and Adriana Billings have active warrants for manufacturing methamphetamine and aggravated child abuse out of Dekalb County, Tennessee. The Cleveland Daily Banner- A local school PTO president has been named the Tennessee School Boards Association’s volunteer of the year. Becca Brnik, whose children attend Michigan Avenue Elementary School, received the School Volunteer Recognition Award during the TSBA’s recent annual convention. Brnik was nominated for the award by the Bradley County Board of Education. Fourth District board member Dianna Calfee, who proposed the nomination, said Brnik has gained a reputation for her leadership while serving with the PTO. A story we have been following out of Chattanooga- The Hamilton County School Board on Thursday night voted to approve a contract with a firm to help find the next Hamilton County school superintendent. Coleman Lew + Associates earlier estimated the cost of the search would be $60,000. School Board Attorney Scott Bennett said the firm has already begun contacting potential candidates. One of those interested in the job is the interim superintendent, Dr. Kirk Kelly. Some board members wanted to go ahead and name him to the post, but Dr. Kelly asked that the full search process go forward. Channel 3- Automaker Volkswagen said Friday it will shed 30,000 jobs to cut costs as it tries to recover from its diesel emissions scandal and invests more in electric-powered vehicles and digital services. Company officials said at a news conference at headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany, that 23,000 of the job cuts will come in Germany. It said the measures will save some 3.7 billion euros ($4 billion) a year from 2020. Volkswagen has agreed to pay $15 billion under a settlement with U.S. authorities and owners of some 500,000 vehicles with software that turned off emissions controls. Around 11 million cars worldwide have the deceptive software.
