After being on the front lines of helping others in crisis, Bill Griffith is now in need of lifesaving help. For nearly a decade if there was an emergency in Bradley County, Bill wasn’t far behind. Bill says that was his way of extending the ministry of the church outside the four walls.
Now, Bill is facing one of the most difficult journey’s of his life. He’s in need of a kidney transplant.
Bill is facing numerous life-threatening health issues from autoimmune deficiency to neuromuscular disease and kidney failure. This journey started back in 2010.
Bill says if he can survive three to four more months and find his living donor, he could have a transplant and avoid dialysis. Bill says there are currently 12 people in the donor pool being checked to see if they are a match.

As it has for the past three years, Bradley County Trustee Mike Smith’s office will continue to collect property taxes on behalf of the City of Charleston.
During its voting session earlier this week, the Bradley County Commission approved a resolution authorizing the trustee to collect property taxes on behalf of Charleston and authorizing Smith and Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis to negotiate and execute an interlocal agreement with the city. Smith said Bradley County and Charleston recently completed a three-year contract for property tax collection and the new agreement is for five years.

The labor force estimates for April are in! The seasonally adjusted US unemployment rate for April was 3.9%, down from 4.1% in March, and down from 4.4% one year ago. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Tennessee was 3.4%, which is the same as one month prior, and down from 4% one year ago.
Moving closer to home, the unemployment rate for Bradley County was 2.9%, down from 3.5% in April, and down from 3.4% one year ago. For Polk County, the unemployment rate was 3.4%, down from 4.2% in April, and down from 4.2% one year ago.
