A fire in a home on Janet Street led authorities to the arrest of the resident on multiple drug charges.

Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Courtney Trivett responded to a residence on Janet Street S.E., to assist the Bradley County Fire-Rescue service with a fire investigation into a structure fire which occurred the previous night.

Contact was made with Felicia Lynn Brown, who had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear and driving on a suspended license.

Further investigation yielded multiple items, including several pills, suspected multiple pills, suspected marijuana, suspected methamphetamine, small plastic bags, digital scale, rolling papers, and glass pipes found in her vehicle, according to BCSO reports.

Brown, 43, was charged by the BCSO with possession of Schedule II drugs for resale, possession of Schedule IV drugs for resale, simple possession of Schedule VI drugs, and simple possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was to appear in Bradley County General Session Court on those charges yesterday.

Rep. Joanne Favors has signed an amendment to TN House Bill 395 that would change the original bill’s language to remove the option of retrofitting existing buses with seatbelts.

Buses ordered or purchased on or after July 1, 2019 and used to transport students will be required to have seatbelts that comply with standards from the National Transportation Safety Boards for passengers and drivers.


The Cleveland Daily Banner reports…

Bradley County Road Department personnel will be working on Michigan Avenue Road and Dry Valley Road from the Cleveland city limits to Chatata Valley Road for the next few months.

There will be times the roads will be closed in some areas for tile replacements.
