The Cleveland Police Department is investigating a break-in and theft of a climate-controlled storage facility at 421 Inman St.
Detective Andy Ratcliff filed a report on the theft, in which individuals opened units that had been improperly locked.
One victim suffered a loss of nearly $5,000, according to Ratcliff. He said she and her late husband had spent a lifetime as missionaries around the world, with their primary time being spent in Haiti. Many of the items were unique and irreplaceable, according to the report.
One item was a carving of a boat that was a gift to the victim’s husband from the United States Embassy in Haiti. There was also a large painted picture of the country of Haiti, a Gibson acoustic guitar, a number of silver dollars and coins from around the world, multiple guns and all of the family’s photographs.
The Cleveland Police Department is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals involved in the theft, as well as the location of the stolen property. The storage facility does have video surveillance cameras.

A Circuit Court complaint says a driver for Durham School Services crossed into the opposing lane and struck another vehicle.
Joshua L.D. Poirot, who said he was badly injured when his car was struck, is also suing driver Edith Crutcher.
The incident happened on March 10th, 2016, at 3:17 p.m. when Mr. Poirot was proceeding onto Harbor Terrace from Vincent Road.
The school bus was traveling south on Harbor Terrace approaching the Vincent Road intersection.
The suit says the bus entered the opposing lane and struck the driver side of the Poirot vehicle.
He received abrasions and contusions, spinal injury and well as injuries to his head and hip. He has had substantial medical expenses, it was stated.
The suit, filed by attorney Ryan Womack, asks $70,000 in damages.

Chattanooga-area veterans waited outside in 30-degree temperatures on Thursday for free dental care.
The Aspen Dental MouthMobile, which is traveling the country to support veterans, made a stop in Chattanooga.
But so many people called to make appointments, hundreds had to be turned away.
The Southeast Tennessee Veterans Coalition helped organize the event. Chairman Mickey McCamish says he’s already lobbying to bring it back next year.
Jo Schendel was able to secure an appointment.
She served in the U.S. Coast Guard for five years. but like many other veterans, she isn’t eligible for dental care through the VA.
She says it has been at least a couple of years since she has seen a dentist.
Dr. Ashley Boling with Aspen Dental told NewsChannel 9 veterans are an under-served population.
