From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Severe thunderstorms last Saturday temporarily pulled the plug on the fourth and final outdoor showing of the Movies in the Park event in Greenway Park.

But not permanently.

In keeping with last weekend’s scheduled Superhero theme, Movies in the Park has regained its footing and will return Saturday (June 30) to complete the four-week series. This weekend’s flick remains the same: “Spiderman Homecoming.”

Everything previously scheduled for last Saturday’s outdoor cinema event remains the same for this coming Saturday: lots of fun and activities in a family environment, food and vendors, a special tribute to the Superhero theme, and lots more.

As scheduled last Saturday, the final segment of the four-leg showcase will include a children’s superhero costume contest.

The movie will start at about 8:45 p.m. at Greenway Park on Raider Drive.  Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.

From the Chattanoogan…

A large sinkhole suddenly opened up in the parking lot of the St. Elmo Walgreens on Thursday as heavy rains continue in Chattanooga.

Officials said the sinkhole is about 17 feet deep and 18 feet wide.

The section of the parking lot was roped off.

A similar sinkhole opened up at the nearby SunTrust Bank parking lot in March of 2013.

The Walgreens site was once a large ravine that was filled in.

From NewsChannel 9…

Athens Police pinned two bowling alley burglary suspects Thursday morning. Two men suspected of burglarizing a bowling alley in Athens now have time to spare behind bars to think about the crimes they’re charged with.

Police in Athens say early Tuesday morning at about 2:30 officers responded to the Classic Lanes Bowling Alley on Congress Parkway after a report of a burglary alarm.

Employees told officers about the alarm, and said they arrived at the business to find that someone apparently had a ball after hours.

Officers began searching the area for the perpetrators. Sometime later, they located two suspects, who tried to split the scene on foot. An officer was able to apprehend one suspect by using a stun gun.

Other officers set up a search perimeter, and a short time later, found a second suspect hiding in nearby woods.

David McCoy and Gabriel O’Daniel, both 19, are now in the McMinn County Jail and now have several strikes against them, including charges of burglary, theft of property over $1000, evading arrest, resisting arrest and vandalism.

Athens Police say there are likely other suspects still at large, and officers are now working to pin down their location.
