Several vehicle break-ins occurring in the Mouse Creek Road neighborhoods and on Tomahawk Circle off Peerless Road are being investigated by the Cleveland Police Department.

According to CPD reports, the break-ins have occurred over the past five days, and are occurring overnight to vehicles left unsecured.

The police department said that firearms, debit cards, small amounts of money and checkbooks have been reported taken, and the thief or thieves have a tendency to target specific areas each evening.

Though none of the burglaries have been viewed as they are happening, surveillance video has been viewed by police. From that, the CPD said that the possible suspect or suspects are in either a small black Honda or a similar small vehicle.

Police said that, due to the location of these reported break-ins, the Cleveland/Bradley County Greenway may be a corridor for the suspects. The Greenway does run parallel to Mouse Creek, giving individuals easy access to the northwest portion of the city.

A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the burglars. Anyone with information about these crimes or the suspects may leave a confidential tip via the CPD’s Facebook page in-box, or may speak directly to Detectives Bill Parks or Brian Stovall, who are investigating the cases. The detectives can be reached at 423-559-3321.

The police department also advises anyone who parks their vehicle outside to keep them locked and remove any valuables that might be in the vehicles, especially within plain sight.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam received assistance from the General Assembly for his gasoline price increase recently, but prices in Cleveland remained low for the July Fourth holiday as the community has some of the lowest fuel prices in the country.

According to Gasbuddy.com in Dalton, Ga., the average price of gasoline in Cleveland is among the lowest in the nation, just behind a number of cities in South Carolina. The online reporting service says this region has remained below $1.90 for gasoline.

Cleveland’s gasoline prices have dropped to an average of approximately $1.80 per gallon, despite a statewide increase of 4 cents per gallon which took place this past weekend.

Despite the $1.80 average, a number of gasoline distribution centers in and around Cleveland had gasoline at $1.67, according to Gasbuddy.com.

Gasbuddy.com listed Chattanooga in 20th place at $1.88 per gallon.
