It’s that time again, the Labor Force Statistics Estimates for December are in! The seasonally adjusted national unemployment rate was 4.7%, up from 4.6% in November and down from 5% one year ago. The seasonally adjusted Tennessee unemployment rate was 4.9%, up from 4.8% in November and down from 5% one year ago.

Closer to home, the unemployment rate for the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Bradley and Polk Counties, was 4.4%, up from 4.1% in November, and down from 4.9% one year ago. Bradley County’s unemployment rate was 4.2%, up from 4% in November, and down from 4.6% one year ago.

In other news…
A press conference will be held today at 10AM at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce. This press conference is in regards to a major eleven-county initiative regarding new industry and workforce development to be announced by the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, elected officials, and civic leaders. State and regional elected officials, civic leaders, Tennessee’s industry leaders, regional educators, and chamber representatives are expected to be present for the announcement.

The Cleveland Police Department is searching for a missing 22-year-old woman last seen Tuesday on Stuart Road.

Megan Wingo is identified as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes, and when last seen was wearing a gray flannel shirt with jeans and boots.

Anyone with information on Wingo’s whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Daniel Gibbs at the police department at 423-559-3393.

The juvenile that the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office was looking for after being missing for several days was located on Wednesday.

Gregory R. Finley, 17, had been last seen at his residence in the McDonald community at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18.Information was sent to the Sheriff’s Office on Finley’s possible whereabouts, and he was found Wednesday.
