A Cleveland resident was killed in a six-vehicle crash Saturday on Florida’s Turnpike in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

According to a report published in the Orlando Sentinel, the 11:45 a.m. crash happened as the southbound  vehicles were approaching the Leesburg Toll Plaza at Mile Marker 288, near U.S. Highway 27, northwest of Orlando.

Christopher Garner, 23, of Texas, drove his Ford pickup into the back of two vehicles in front of him, including a motorcycle, investigators said.

The driver of the motorcycle, David Kibble, 61, of Cleveland, died at Leesburg Medical Center. He was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.

The only other person hurt was Garner, and he sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

A woman who said she was injured in a “human stampede” at Hamilton Place Mall on Dec. 26, 2016, is suing the mall owner.

Amanda J. Marler filed the complaint in Circuit Court against CBL&Associates Properties.

Her husband, Paul Marler, also joined in the suit.

The complaint says Ms. Marler was eating in the Food Court when people began running toward her. It says she slipped and fell and was hurt.

The suit says the mall should have had procedures in place to prevent such safety concerns.

Several people were arrested in connection with setting off fireworks as a ploy during a shoplifting foray.

The suit was filed by attorney Ryan Womack.
