The City Council met on Monday to discuss a number of topics.
Council members learned that closures on Inman Street will be needed in June to put in a new conduit for new traffic lights. Intersections on Inman should only be closed one day at a time per section or intersection. Inman Street will also be repaved during this time. A schedule of closures will be released closer to the time of the work.
The Council members also discussed the fiscal year 2024 budget
The budget includes a new ladder truck and pay increases for certain certifications and positions within the Fire Department.
Automated license plate readers which will be implemented on state corridors for the Police Department.
A new agreement with waste connections for trash pickup.
Water Filter and water treatment plant improvements that include $9 million for a new UV system to replace the Chlorine system.
And a City School budget that ensures that Teacher base pay is increased to at least $50k per year, Pay increases for bus drivers, and all CCS employees will not make less than $15 per hour.
The next City Council meeting will be held on Monday, May 22nd.
