From our partners at Local 3 News: Chattanooga has the potential to play a small part in the 2026 World Cup set to take place across North America.

The city has been selected as a potential home base city for teams participating in the tournament.

This means, if a team elects to do so, they’ll be able to set up shop in Chattanooga to train and rest during group stage play. The Baylor School has been selected as the facility they would use and the Read House as the hotel they would stay.

Matches are set to take place just down the road in Atlanta so there’s a good possibility a team elects to stay in Chattanooga.

We’re now less than two years away from the 2026 World Cup kicking off. As we closer to the tournament, more information will be released as it pertains to a team potentially picking Chattanooga as their home base.
