The Bradley County School Board met last night.

During the Director of Schools Report, Dr. Linda Cash announced that Make a Change Day will take place on March 31st. Over $60k has been raised over the past few years for the Sack Pack Program. Students are asked to bring spare change to school on that day.

Administrators also discussed the plan to move Middle School Volleyball and Softball seasons to mirror the current high school sports calendar. The change would allow Lake Forrest and Ocoee Middle to compete in state middle school tournaments, make scheduling with other schools easier, and will help with facilities management and conflicts with other sports and activities. Under the proposal, Volleyball will become a fall sport and softball will move to the spring. The changes are proposed for the 2023-2024 seasons.

Dr. Linda Cash also announced that discussions have begun to create an award process to honor distinguished alumni. Dr. Cash said committees will be formed and will work with school principals to help create the process.

The board will meet again on April 13th. Board members have already placed two items on the agenda. The board will discuss adding additional work sessions and the current bid process.

Bradley County Schools are closed March 13-17 for spring break.
