Mayor Gary Davis announced that Bradley County received the Government Finance Officer’s Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the annual comprehensive financial report filed for 2021. The award is judged by an impartial panel and is the highest form of recognition in the field. This is the 17th year in a row the county has received the award.
The Commissioners approved a resolution to apply for a federal grant to help fund a $10 million Bradley Central High School Science Wing. If awarded, the grant from FEMA would pay for 90% of the project. The building would double as an academic building and a “safe room” for students and the community. The resolution only approved the grant submission. If awarded, the Commissioners would need to discuss and approve the funding of the 10% match.
