From News 12: McMinn County Police arrested a man after he was indicted and charged with a 2020 overdose death. William Dean Roberts was charged with second-degree murder and the sale and delivery of methamphetamine over 0.5 grams.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced the charges on Friday.

The TBI stated that Roberts is being held accountable for the death of 47-year-old Jamie P. Masse.

Masse died in January 2020 in Athens due to a meth-related overdose.

The TBI said Roberts was responsible for delivering the drugs that killed Masse.

In 2020, officers found Masse unresponsive in a home on County Road 82. Police said he was then taken to a hospital, but he died the next day.

Roberts was booked in the McMinn County Jail and has a $70,000 bond.
