From NewsChannel 9- UPDATE (April 26th): Georgia State Patrol say 11 students were hospitalized in a bus crash that happened in Murray County Monday morning.

We learned this information after the school district said there were “no serious injuries.”

GSP says the bus was traveling east on Old Grade Road negotiating a right-hand curve.

They say the driver failed to maintain his lane of travel and traveled off the south edge of roadway.

The bus hit the south ditch with its right front and right rear tires, according to GSP.

They say the bus continued traveling east in the south ditch and traveled across a private drive before traveling back onto Old Glade Road.

GSP says the traveled approximately 97.7 ft in the south ditch before traveling back onto Old Glade Road.

GSP says the bus was moved prior to investigating Trooper’s arrival. They say there were tire marks, gouge marks, and asphalt debris.

The bus driver told GSP that a student on the bus stores his band instrument behind the driver seat and that the instrument started moving.

GSP says he reached down to secure it and the bus left the roadway during this time.

GSP says 11 students were taken to local hospitals.

We have reached back out to the Murray County School district and are waiting to hear back.
